Piccolo comprensorio sciistico situato sul monte Terminio in provincia di Avellino, dismesso e abbandonato da oltre 30 anni.

Facciamo un balzo indietro nel tempo, anno 1968: parte il “progetto regionale per lo sviluppo turistico delle aree interne”, progetto di cui beneficeranno tutte le stazioni sciistiche campane sorte in quegli anni. Il Terminio, massiccio di 1806m a sud di Avellino, fu uno dei prescelti per il progetto. Anche qui, come a Laceno, nel 1972 fu lanciata come prima “cavia” una sciovia media ed una pista site alla località “Campolaspierto” a 1310m. L’impianto, lungo circa 500m con un dislivello di 70m, era della “Graffer seggiovie” di Trento, aveva un percorso variegato tra i boschi e presentava le classiche caratteristiche tecniche della ditta trentina, con tenditrice a monte e motrice a “fungo” a valle. Fu inoltre costruito un rifugio ed un bar. L’impianto aveva una discreta clientela, ma questo non bastò per il “salto” di qualità come c’era stato a Laceno, nonostante altri progetti erano già stati abbozzati. L’innevamento non era per niente scarso e non fu la causa del declino. In realtà la causa riteniamo fu quella del drammatico terremoto del 1980, il quale ricordiamo fece oltre 2900 vittime tra Irpinia e Basilicata, in quell’evento pare (nessuna fonte ufficiale purtroppo) che l’impianto subì dei danni strutturali, anche se l’unica cosa che sembrò riportare seri danni fu il rifugio retrostante. Il terremoto, i danni e la scarsa clientela misero definitivamente la parola fine su una esperienza poco fortunata. Da allora l’impianto giace in uno stato di abbandono totale, anche se ancora completo di tutto, come il rifugio, a tutt’oggi pericolante e parzialmente crollato. Oggi l’impianto non sembra più quello di un tempo: la ruggine si è appropriata dei sostegni e delle stazioni di cui restano solo piccoli frammenti dell’originale verde menta. Nonostante ciò i traini sono ancora funzionanti e la fune non si è arrugginita. Tutti, a partire dalle istituzioni locali, si sono dimenticati di questo impianto, tutti tranne i ladri di ferro che, negli ultimi tempi, hanno trafugato la stazione motrice, molti traini e parti di fune; la pista, invece, è ancora sgombera e praticabile, ed è usata in inverno con gli slittini e d’estate come percorso per i cavalli. Il rifugio giace in uno stato di abbandono completo, molti rifiuti sono presenti ovunque, come pure i resti dell’azionamento dell’impianto e resti di scarponi e sci nell’ex-noleggio. Le foto che vi proponiamo risalgono al 2011 quando l’impianto era ancora intatto.

Let’s take a trip back in the time, year 1968: the “regional project for the development of tourism in the inland areas,” begins, project that will benefit all ski resorts built in those years. The Terminio, a mountain of 1806m south of Avellino, was one of those chosen for the project. Here, as in Laceno, was launched in 1972 as a first test a medium-length ski lift and a slope in the location “Campolaspierto” at 1310m above sea level. The lift, approximately 500 meters long with a vertical drop of 70m, was built by the “Graffer seggiovie” of Trento, it had a varied track through the trees and it had the classic technical characteristics, with the upper tension station and the drive valley station. It was also built a restaurant/hotel and a bar. The ski region had good customers, but this wasn’t enough for the “jump” of quality as there had been in Laceno, despite other projects had already been sketched. The snow wasn’t the cause of the decline. In fact we believe that the cause was the tragic earthquake of 1980, which killed over 2900 people between Irpinia and Basilicata, in that event seems (no official source unfortunately) that the skilift had structural damage, even if the only thing which seemed to suffer serious damage was the refuge behind. The earthquake, the damages and not enough customers definitively put an end to a very unsuccessful experience. Since 1980 the lift lies in a state of total abandonment, though complete of all, as the hotel, still unsafe and partially collapsed. Today the lift no longer seems what it was: the rust has appropriated of the supports and the stations and only small fragments of the original mint green survived. Nevertheless the hangers are still functioning and the rope was not rusty. Everyone from local institutions, forgot of this facility, everyone but not the thieves of iron that, in recent times, have stolen the driving station, hangers and many parts of the rope; the slope, however, is still clean and practicable, and It’s used in winter with sleds and in summer as a path for the horses. The hotel lies in a state of complete abandonment, many waste are everywhere, as well as the remains of the drive system of the skilift and the remains of boots and skis in the ex-ski-rent. The photos that we propose date back to 2011 when the skilift was still intact.
